Gunnar Hindrichs (Universität Basel/Wiko Berlin): Philosophische Polemik, philosophische Irenik. Die Position Kant

War and peace constitute a fundamental problem in modern philosophy. And it is philosophy that is often given the task of finding a conceptual solution. However, philosophy seems to possess a bellicose propensity in itself: in the form of philosophical polemics. It is this propensity that Kant engaged with in his Critique of Pure Reason that aimed to pacify philosophy. The lecture traces the horizon, the implications, and the abridgements of this peace-building.

Gunnar Hindrichs is professor of Philosophy at the University of Basel and fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin in 2022/23.
