Gerd Irrlitz, born in Leipzig in 1935, was a student and assistant to Ernst Bloch. Later, he worked at the Academy of Sciences and at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, were he held a professorship for Philosophical Propaedeutics and the History of Philosophy from 1993 to 2000.

Falko Schmieder is a cultural theorist and research associate in the project The 20th Century in Basic Concepts. A Dictionary of Historical Semantics in Germany.
