Wandlungszonen: Zeitschriften und Öffentlichkeit 1945 bis 1969
A cooperation between the Deutsches Literaturarchiv Marbach, the Working Group: The Cultural Study of Periodicals, and the ZfL, supported with funds by the Wüstenrot Stiftung.
Journals, especially cultural journals that range between art, science, and politics have always played an essential role in the formation of the public in Europe and beyond. From the brochures of the Enlightenment to the theoretical journals of the 1960s and the zines of the underground and punk, making journals has always been an important cultural technique that influences the ways in which we argument, tell stories, write, and think. In a time when journals and the press become a contested subject once again, it becomes all the more important to focus on the role that journals (might) play for a critical public. Starting from the many editorial archives at the DLA Marbach—from the archive of the Wandlung to archives of journals such as Merkur, Der Ruf, or Alternative and estates of editors such as Dolf Sternberg, Joachim Moras, Hans Paeschke, or Curt Vinz—a look behind the historical scenes allows us to understand journals as places of reflection and the circulation of ideas.
