Zeitdiagnostik in Schlüsselbegriffen. Das Glossar der Gegenwart 2.0
In 2004, the Glossar der Gegenwart (Glossary of the Present) was published by edition suhrkamp. A total of 44 entries examined concepts of medium scope but high strategic function that played a pivotal role in the debates of the time. Twenty years later, it was time for an update. Today’s contemporaries will recognize their present in other key terms: “disruption” replaces “normality,” “the planetary,” replaces “globalization,” “resilience” replaces “prevention.” The same applies to the Glossar der Gegenwart 2.0: the significance lies in the selection of its lemmas. The individual entries present exemplary analyses; the overall picture of the times results from their constellation.
Ulrich Bröckling (Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg), co-editor of the Glossar der Gegenwart 2.0, has been invited by the project The 20th Century in Basic Concepts to introduce the book. Moderation and respondence: Falko Schmieder (ZfL).
