The Dissident Library: Russian Dissidents and France: Context, Texts, Actions of Solidarity, and Research

The upcoming talk in our seminar series will be held by Cécile Vaissié, professor of Russian and Soviet studies as well as director of the Department of Russian at the University of Rennes 2. It is the first in a series of talks exploring the distinctive features of Soviet dissident studies in specific regions. Focusing on these regions, it aims to investigate the impact the cultural and social situation had upon the development of the research field: Did this situation in any way affect the researchers from these regions in their choice of focus? Did it influence the gaps in their perspectives? We start off this strand of our seminar by exploring this issue in France. The goal is to continue this line of questioning by also discussing other countries and regions and their respective areas of research in the future.

Беседа с Сесиль Вессье, французским историком, политологом, профессором, директором кафедры русского языка Университета Ренн-II, станет первой в серии семинаров Библиотеки инакомыслия, посвященных изучению особенностей исследования советского диссидентства в различных странах. Целью этого блока семинаров будет изучение влияния, которое оказала культурная и социальная ситуация, сложившаяся в этих странах, на исследовательские предпочтения и на возникшие лакуны. Этот разговор мы начнем с обсуждения формирования и развития этого исследовательского поля во Франции.
