Fear, Reverence, Terror. Reading Hobbes Today
Venue: ZfL, Schützenstr. 18, 10117 Berlin, 3. Et., Trajekte-Tagungsraum 308
Organized by Carlo Ginzburg
Program
The name of Thomas Hobbes, the author of Leviathan, has been often
evoked after September 11, 2001. Is this reference legitimate? Can
Hobbes help us to understand the world in which we live? Can the world
in which we live help us to read or re-read Hobbes in a different
perspective? The talk will try to answer these questions and to raise
some new ones, possibly unexpected.
To decipher the present we have sometimes to turn away from it.
Carlo Ginzburg ist auf Einladung der Direktorin Sigrid Weigel im Juli zu Gast am ZfL.
