Ökologische Grundbegriffe im 20. Jahrhundert

Venue: Leibniz-Zentrum für Literatur- und Kulturforschung, Schützenstr. 18, 10117 Berlin, Aufgang B, 3. Et., Trajekte-Tagungsraum
Organized by Ernst Müller
Research project(s): The 20th Century in Basic Concepts

The workshop discusses concepts that are part of the ecological discourse of the 20th century—concepts such as Nachhaltigkeit (sustainability), Umwelt (environment), Ökologie (ecology), Klima (climate), Natur (nature), Diversität (diversity), or Überleben (survival). The authors and interested participants will discuss methodical particularities of these concepts, situated on the verge between science and politics, as well as the shifting of concepts in the 20th century, but also practical questions concerning their depiction and reconciliation in the lexicon The 20th Century in Basic Concepts.

The workshop is funded by the Leibniz Research Alliance Value of the Past.
