GESCHICHTE UND ZUKUNFT DES HOMO IMMORTALIS
[Immortality. History and Future of the Homo immortalis]

Since the 19th century, the assumption that man can attain physical immortality has been the basis of biological debates on the potential immortality of organisms, experimental research on longevity and rejuvenation, and cybernetic and transhumanist technologies. In this issue of »Interjekte«, interdisciplinary perspectives on corresponding drafts in science, philosophy, literature and art from Eastern, Central and Southeastern Europe are brought together and their cultural specifics examined. Concrete paradigms of life without death and the transformation of human beings into homo immortalis will be discussed.
The contributions originated on the workshop Unsterblichkeit. Geschichte und Zukunft des Homo immortalis at the ZfL in July 2017.
