The Dissident Library: Soviet Dissident Studies in the FRG: The Political Dimension
The next seminar of The Dissident Library will continue a thematic focus that started a year ago with a seminar on the emergence of the field of Soviet dissident studies in France. With Prof. Wolfgang Eichwede, founder of the Research Centre for East European Studies (FSO) at the University of Bremen and the archive on the history of samizdat and dissidence, we will talk about the emergence of this field in West Germany. We will discuss the impulses in the USSR and Eastern Europe in the 1960s and 1970s that sparked a general interest in Soviet dissidence and brought forth the first studies on Soviet dissidence in Germany in the early 1970s, and talk about the influence of the policy of détente and Willy Brandt on the establishment of the FSO at the University of Bremen, and how the direction of research (publications, conferences, academic journals) was influenced by emigrants from the USSR and Russian-language publications in Germany.

Следующий семинар Библиотеки инакомыслия будет посвящен теме возникновения исследований, посвященных советским диссидентам, начатой год назад семинаром о возникновении этой области во Франции. Первый семинар о возникновении этого направления в Западной Германии откроет профессор Вольфганг Айхведе, основатель Исследовательского центра Восточной Европы (FSO) и архива по истории самиздата и диссидентства при Бременском университете. Мы поговорим о спровоцировавших в 1960–1970-е гг. интерес к этой теме импульсах в СССР и Восточной Европе, о первых исследованиях советских диссидентов в Германии в начале 1970-х гг., о влиянии политики разрядки и Вилли Брандта на создание FSO в Бременском университете, о том, как и в какой мере на направление исследований (публикации, конференции, научные журналы) повлияли эмигранты из СССР и русскоязычные изданиям, существовавшие в Германии.
